Another Mountain Sky Builders home is about to take shape in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

In fall of 2026, we're beginning construction on a new custom home at Lake Adger, a beautiful mountain and lake community here in Polk County. With permitting complete and excavation getting underway, this project is just at the beginning of its journey from an undeveloped homesite to a one-of-a-kind residence.

There isn't much to photograph yet, and that's part of the fun.

Over the months ahead, we'll be sharing the progress as the site is prepared, the foundation is established, framing begins, and this custom lake home gradually comes to life.

Building at Lake Adger

Lake Adger is one of those places that captures so much of what people love about living in Western North Carolina: mountains, water, privacy, natural surroundings, and room to create a home that feels connected to the land around it.

We're based here in Polk County, and projects throughout Saluda, Tryon, Columbus, Lake Adger, and the surrounding mountain communities allow us to build in places we know and genuinely care about.

A Custom Home From the Ground Up

This Lake Adger residence will be a fully custom home created specifically for its owners and property. That's where custom homebuilding really begins, not with a predetermined collection of finishes, but with the people, the property, and an idea of what home should feel like.

Every site brings different considerations. In the mountains, the relationship between a home and its property becomes especially important. Terrain, access, orientation, outdoor spaces, views, privacy, drainage, and the surrounding landscape all influence decisions long before anyone begins selecting countertops or paint colors.

This project is now entering that first physical stage.

The permit has been secured, excavation is beginning, and soon we'll start seeing the first signs of a home where today there's mostly a piece of mountain land.

What “Coming Soon” Really Looks Like

Custom homes don't appear overnight.

Before the beautiful finished photography comes excavation, site work, foundations, framing, utilities, inspections, mechanical systems, and countless decisions between the homeowner, builder, craftspeople, and project partners.

We want to share some of that process here.

Rather than waiting until this Lake Adger home is completely finished to show it, we'll document the project as it develops. That means this page will change along with the home.
